Chronic pain has to start somewhere, whether it is something as simple as having bad posture at a work desk or leaning forward causing strain on your neck. Pain is considered to be chronic if it has lasted for three months or longer. A patient should definitely make a visit to see a pain management doctor before symptoms begin to progress and get worse. You should see a pain doctor if:
- Pain in running your life, limiting the amount of activity you can engage in
- You have tried many home remedies and the pain simply won’t go away
- You have discussed your pain with your primary care doctor and they cannot seem to come up with a diagnosis to suggest treatment
- Your pain has lasted for three months or longer
- You have severe or unmanageable pain
